Why You Need More Than Just Water
Pressure washing with plain water can remove dirt, but it often leaves behind mold spores, deep oil stains, and rust. To get a truly clean surface that lasts, you need the right chemical solutions.
Top Detergent Types
- Sodium Hypochlorite (Bleach): The industry standard for killing organic growth like mold, mildew, and algae. It's highly effective but must be used carefully and diluted properly to avoid damaging plants.
- Degreasers: Essential for driveways and garage floors. Alkaline-based degreasers break down oil and grease so it can be easily washed away.
- Oxalic Acid: The go-to solution for rust stains and hard water spots. It's often used as a secondary treatment after the main wash.
Application Tips
Always apply detergents from the bottom up to prevent streaking, and let the solution sit (dwell time) for 5-10 minutes before rinsing. Never let the detergent dry on the surface!
